Hetfield's 48:59 - The Legendary Run

For the longest time, Order of Ecclesia Any% was a predominantly glitchless speedrun

It only had one sequence break: after killing Blackmore, the route goes through the Training Hall to pick up Redire, which is then used to fly through the second half of the Castle>

Boss quick kills were also a major focus of the run, with items like Nitesco, Dominus Agony, and Death Ring being combined with Union Cancels to defeat bosses as quickly as possible

There were minor skips such as the Castle Entrance Skip with Redire, but the run largely relied on good movement and Magnes Dashing to get through the game fast

A runner named Hetfield90 would master the route, leading to a long grind that would result in a 48:59 on September 8, 2019

This was the first time anyone had ever beaten the game in under 49 minutes, and it would take 5 years for anyone else to match and eventually beat this time

Because Hetfield90 was playing on Emulator, he was able to do extremely fast Magnes Dashing using a keyboard, saving a lot of time over players on controller or a DS

There were also very few mistakes in this run, with an almost perfect Redire segment and great boss kills

This Legacy Route continued to see improvements from the community, with liwzero setting a 48:29 before apple_for_you established the current record of 47:41 in 2025

While this run has since been beaten, there is no denying the impact Hetfield90 had on the community, being regarded as one of the greatest runners in the game's history

Many believed that this Glitchless run represented the peak of Ecclesia optimization and that the game would never be broken, but the release of the Dominus Collection quickly proved otherwise
